The Rays reassigned Uceta to minor-league camp Monday. Uceta made 25 appearances at the big-league level over the past three seasons, but he never had much of a shot at winning a spot in the Rays' Opening Day bullpen after joining the club on a minor-league deal over the winter. He's expected to begin the campaign at Triple-A Durham.... See More ... See Less

Rays' Edwin Uceta: Gets minors deal
Uceta signed a minor-league deal with the Rays on Sunday, freelance reporter Francys Romero reports. The 25-year-old righty has been operating almost exclusively as a reliever since the pandemic, most recently seeing time at Triple-A for the Cubs and Mets this past season while also making a three-inning relief appearance in the majors for the Mets. He has a career 5.80 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and a 41:21 K:BB in 40.1 big-league innings.... See More ... See Less -
Edwin Uceta: Cut loose by Cubs
The Cubs released Uceta on Tuesday. Uceta was removed from the Cubs' 40-man roster last month and will now part ways with the organization altogether. The reliever allowed nine runs over five innings during his brief time with Triple-A Iowa.... See More ... See Less -
Cubs' Edwin Uceta: Outrighted to Iowa
Uceta cleared waivers Friday and was sent outright to Triple-A Iowa, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports. The Cubs claimed Uceta off waivers from the Mets last week and immediately optioned him to Triple-A. He'll remain in the Cubs' farm system but lose his spot on the 40-man roster. The 25-year-old righty has surrendered six runs in 5.2 Triple-A innings this season.... See More ... See Less -
Mets' Edwin Uceta: Reinstated from IL, sent down
Uceta (knee) was reinstated from the 60-day injured list and optioned to Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. Uceta had been sidelined since late April due to ankle and knee injuries, but he began a rehab assignment in early August and struck out two in four innings over four appearances. He'll remain with the Triple-A club now that he's healthy but will likely be a candidate to be called up if the Mets need bullpen help at some point.... See More ... See Less -
Mets' Edwin Uceta: Rehabbing at Single-A
Uceta (knee) shifted his rehab assignment to Single-A St. Lucie on Sunday and tossed a perfect inning. Uceta needed just eight pitches to retire the side Sunday in the second appearance of his rehab assignment, which began in the rookie-level Florida Complex League on Wednesday. The right-hander has been on the shelf since late April and later underwent surgery in June to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee. He'll eventually move his rehab to Triple-A Syracuse and will likely make a few appearances with the Mets' top affiliate before being reinstated from the 60-day injured list.... See More ... Mets' Edwin Uceta: Goes to 60-day IL
The Mets transferred Uceta (knee) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Monday. The transaction won't affect Uceta's timeline for rejoining the Mets, as he had already missed more than two months after landing on the 15-day IL on April 25 due to a left ankle sprain. He resumed a rehab assignment in early May, only to develop a left knee injury during that time before he was ultimately diagnosed with a torn meniscus, which he had surgically repaired June 9. The Mets likely won't have a precise timeline for Uceta's return from the IL until he resumes a throwing program.... See More ... See Less -
Mets' Edwin Uceta: Starts up rehab assignment
Uceta (ankle) began a rehab assignment Thursday with Triple-A Syracuse and allowed two unearned runs on no hits and four walks over 1.1 innings. The fact that Uceta was cleared to go out on a rehab assignment less than two weeks after landing on the 15-day injured list suggests his left ankle sprain isn't a major concern, but the Mets will want to see a sharper minor-league appearance or two from him before activating him. He threw only 13 strikes during his 32-pitch appearance Thursday.... See More ... See Less -
Mets' Edwin Uceta: Goes on IL with ankle sprain
Uceta was placed the 15-day injured list Tuesday with a left ankle sprain. Uceta presumably suffered the injury while making a three-inning relief appearance Saturday at San Francisco. Jose Butto was called up from Triple-A Syracuse in a corresponding move and is expected to start Tuesday's game against the Nationals.... See More ... See Less -
Mets' Edwin Uceta: Brought up from Triple-A
The Mets recalled Uceta from Triple-A Syracuse on Monday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. Uceta will take the roster spot of Jose Butto after Butto was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move. The right-hander provides the Mets with a middle-innings option out of the bullpen while he's with the club.... See More ... See Less -
Mets' Edwin Uceta: Claimed off waivers by NYM
Uceta was claimed off waivers by the Mets on Thursday and optioned to Triple-A Syracuse. Uceta was designated for assignment by the Pirates on Tuesday. The 25-year-old right-hander holds a career 6.27 ERA and 38:19 K:BB in 37.1 total innings at the MLB level.... See More ... See Less -
Pirates' Edwin Uceta: Designated for assignment
Uceta was designated for assignment by the Pirates on Tuesday. This move opens up a 40-man roster spot for Tyler Heineman, who is up to help fill in for Austin Hedges (concussion) behind the plate. Uceta had just been claimed off waivers from the Tigers on Sunday.... See More ... See Less -
Tigers' Edwin Uceta: DFA'd by Detroit
Uceta was designated for assignment by the Tigers on Thursday. Uceta missed the cut for Detroit's Opening Day roster and has now lost his spot on the 40-man roster. The 25-year-old made 10 appearances for the Diamondbacks last year and had a 5.82 ERA over 17 innings.... See More ... See Less -
Tigers' Edwin Uceta: Moves to Triple-A
The Tigers optioned Uceta to Triple-A Toledo on Monday, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports. A waiver pickup from the Diamondbacks in January, Uceta was sent out to the minors after allowing five runs (four earned) on eight hits and four walks over seven innings in Grapefruit League play during his first camp with the Tigers. The 25-year-old right-hander will probably need to show sharpened command and control at Triple-A for at least his first few appearances of the season before the Tigers entertain the idea of calling him up.... See More ... See Less -
Diamondbacks' Edwin Uceta: Designated for assignment
Uceta was designated for assignment by the Diamondbacks on Thursday, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports. Uceta split time between the Triple-A and major-league clubs last year and posted a 5.82 ERA and 1.24 WHIP in 17 innings over 10 relief appearances with the Diamondbacks. However, he'll lose his spot on the team's 40-man roster after Arizona signed Evan Longoria to a one-year contract.... See More ... See Less -
Diamondbacks' Edwin Uceta: Back in minors
Uceta struck out seven and allowed two earned runs on two hits and three walks over 3.1 innings in his relief appearance Friday for Triple-A Reno. Uceta was returned to the Triple-A club after a one-day stint in Arizona, as he was designated as the Diamondbacks' 29th man for its Sept. 20 doubleheader with the Dodgers. Unless Arizona has a need for an extra relief arm over the final week and a half with the season, Uceta may not pitch for the Diamondbacks again in 2022. He's logged a 5.82 ERA and 1.24 WHIP across 17 innings out of the Arizona bullpen so far this season.... See More ... See Less -
Diamondbacks' Edwin Uceta: Up as 29th man
Uceta was recalled from Triple-A Reno to serve as the 29th man in Tuesday's doubleheader against the Dodgers, Sarah Wexler of MLB.com reports. He last threw three innings Saturday at Triple-A, so he could be available to log a few innings in relief if either Zach Davies or Drey Jameson get chased in their starts. Uceta, 24, has a 5.04 ERA at Triple-A and a 5.82 ERA in the majors this season.... See More ... See Less -
Diamondbacks' Edwin Uceta: Heads to Triple-A
The Diamondbacks optioned Uceta to Triple-A Reno on Sunday. Uceta was sent out to Triple-A in order for the Diamondbacks to add a fresh arm -- Luis Frias, who was recalled from Reno -- to the bullpen ahead of Sunday's series finale with the Cardinals after five relievers were needed to record the final 11 outs of Saturday's 16-7 loss. One of those relievers was Uceta, who was lit up for four earned runs on three hits and one walk during his one inning out of the bullpen.... See More ... See Less -
Diamondbacks' Edwin Uceta: Recalled from Reno
Uceta was recalled from Triple-A Reno on Monday. Uceta has moved up and down several times this season, and he will rejoin the big club with fellow reliever Kyle Nelson (back) landing on the injured list. He figures to hold down a spot near the back of the bullpen last time he was with the Diamondbacks.... See More ... See Less -
Diamondbacks' Edwin Uceta: Moves up from Triple-A
The Diamondbacks recalled Uceta from Triple-A Reno prior to Sunday's game against the Rockies. Arizona optioned right-handed reliever Sean Poppen to Triple-A to clear room on the 26-man active roster and in the bullpen for Uceta. The 24-year-old right-hander has previously made four relief appearances for Arizona this season, giving up five earned runs on seven hits and four walks over nine innings.... See More ... See Less
