  • Rockets' Fred VanVleet: Won't play Sunday

VanVleet (hip) will not play Sunday against the Clippers. VanVleet will end up sitting for the second time in a row to end the regular season. His debut campaign with the Rockets was a success, as he averaged a career-high 8.1 assists to go with 17.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.4 steals and 3.1 three-pointers.

  • Rockets' Fred VanVleet: Won't play Friday

VanVleet has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Trail Blazers due to a right hip contusion. VanVleet will sit out the second night of a back-to-back set after scoring a season-high 42 points during a loss to Utah on Thursday. The veteran will have only one more chance to suit up this season -- Sunday in Los Angeles against the Clippers.

  • Rockets' Fred VanVleet: Scores season-high 42 points

VanVleet recorded 42 points (12-30 FG, 9-13 3Pt, 9-10 FT), seven rebounds, seven assists, one block and two steals in 40 minutes during Thursday's 124-121 loss to Utah. VanVleet was impressive Thursday, filling the stat sheet and sniffing a triple-double while posting a season-high scoring mark. The Rockets have nothing to play for in the final two games of the campaign, but VanVleet is ending the season on a strong note. He's averaged 20.8 points, 7.0 assists and 4.2 rebounds per game across his last 10 appearances.

  • Rockets' Fred VanVleet: Drops season-high 37 points

VanVleet posted 37 points (13-22 FG, 6-11 3Pt, 5-6 FT), eight rebounds, six assists, one block and one steal across 38 minutes during Tuesday's 118-106 victory over the Magic. VanVleet was spectacular in the win, scoring a season-high 37 points including six triples. Despite a few scoring lapses, VanVleet has put together a strong season. He is the 17th-ranked player in standard leagues, averaging 17.1 points, 3.8 rebounds, 8.1 assists, 1.4 steals, 0.8 blocks and 3.0 three-pointers. He is arguably the face of the franchise in Houston, meaning his role is unlikely to change too much heading into the 2-24-25 season.

  • Rockets' Fred VanVleet: Notches double-double Sunday

VanVleet produced 24 points (9-21 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 4-6 FT), one rebound, 12 assists and one steal across 44 minutes during Sunday's 147-136 overtime loss to the Mavericks. VanVleet registered his 20th double-double of the season Sunday, which is as many as he recorded with the Raptors over the previous two seasons. It was the first time since March 21 against the Bulls that he recorded 10-plus assists. VanVleet's scoring numbers are down in his first year in Houston, but he's averaging a career-high 8.1 assists. Over his last 10 games, he has averaged 17.2 points, 3.3 rebounds, 7.6 assists and 2.3 steals over 36.5 minutes per game.

  • Rockets' Fred VanVleet: Scores 22 points in loss Tuesday

VanVleet provided 22 points (9-20 FG, 4-13 3Pt, 0-1 FT), five rebounds, five assists and five steals across 41 minutes during Tuesday's 113-106 loss to Minnesota. Similar to what happened with Jalen Green, VanVleet had a rough night from the three-point lead but still delivered a strong scoring line. VanVleet has not been at his best in recent weeks, though. He's failed to reach the 20-point mark in five of his last eight appearances, shooting just 41.4 percent from the field and 37.8 percent from deep. However, he still salvages his fantasy contributions due to strong peripheral stats that include 7.3 assists and 2.4 steals per game in that stretch.

  • Rockets' Fred VanVleet: Scores 22 with six dimes

VanVleet produced 22 points (9-24 FG, 4-14 3Pt), two rebounds, six assists, three blocks and four steals in 42 minutes during Friday's 101-100 win over Utah. The Rockets pushed their winning streak to 11 games, and as has been the trend during that span, VanVleet delivered another solid showing. Even though his shooting figures weren't efficient Friday, as he ended with more shot attempts than points scored, VanVleet managed to reach the 20-point mark for the second time over his last seven appearances. The veteran floor general has averaged 16.1 points per game in that span despite shooting a subpar 38.3 percent from the field.

  • Rockets' Fred VanVleet: Poor shooting display Monday

VanVleet provided 15 points (5-18 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 3-3 FT), three rebounds, four assists, one block and two steals in 26 minutes during Monday's 110-92 victory over the Trail Blazers. VanVleet posted a solid all-around stat line in 26 minutes, as he found a way to contribute on both ends of the court, but he struggled in terms of efficiency with his shot. The veteran floor general has failed to surpass the 15-point mark in four of Houston's last five games, but that's also because Jalen Green has taken on a more prominent role as a scorer. Despite that cold stretch, VanVleet is averaging 18.8 points and 9.5 assists per game since the beginning of March.

  • Rockets' Fred VanVleet: Makes 10 threes in win Saturday

VanVleet supplied 34 points (11-16 FG, 10-15 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds, seven assists and two steals over 28 minutes during Saturday's 147-119 win over the Jazz. VanVleet finished just one three-pointer away from tying his career-best mark, but he tied the franchise's mark of most threes in a single game, a record previously co-held by James Harden and Chandler Parsons. VanVleet also scored a season-high 34 points, and while Jalen Green has been gaining most of the attention due to his impressive play, VanVleet has also been outstanding in his own right. During Houston's ongoing eight-game winning streak, VanVleet has averaged 18.9 points, 10.1 assists, 3.6 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game.

  • Rockets' Fred VanVleet: Dishes 16 dimes vs. Cleveland

VanVleet chipped in 13 points (5-15 FG, 3-8 3Pt), five rebounds, 16 assists, one block and one steal across 35 minutes during Saturday's 117-103 win over Cleveland. While VanVleet wasn't efficient from the field Saturday, he got his teammates involved as he recorded 16 or more assists for the third time this season. His 8.2 assists per game ranks seventh in the NBA, and he's upped that to 10.0 dimes per contest in March. In addition to his assists, VanVleet is averaging 20.1 points on 47.3 percent shooting (including 46.9 percent from three on 8.0 attempts), 4.1 rebounds and 1.9 steals over 37.8 minutes per game in March.

  • Rockets' Fred VanVleet: Pops for 27 in Thursday's win

VanVleet logged 27 points (9-14 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 6-7 FT), three rebounds, nine assists and two steals in 37 minutes during Thursday's 135-119 victory over Washington. The veteran point guard just missed his 19th double-double of the season while topping 20 points for the third straight game. VanVleet missed the last five contests before the All-Star break with an adductor strain, but he's been his usual productive self since returning to the court, averaging 18.7 points, 7.3 assists, 3.8 boards, 3.5 threes and 1.7 steals over the last 12 games.

  • Rockets' Fred VanVleet: Perfect from free-throw line Sunday

VanVleet contributed 22 points (5-8 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 10-10 FT), nine assists, four rebounds and two steals across 38 minutes in Sunday's 112-104 win over the Kings. VanVleet finished just one assist away from a double-double once again and turned in his best performance of the season from the free-throw line in terms of both volume and efficiency. The veteran point guard is averaging 17.6 points, 7.2 assists, 3.6 rebounds, 3.6 three-pointers and 1.6 steals per game in 10 outings since the All-Star break, and he could see his usage spike even higher over the final month of the season after star center Alperen Sengun exited Sunday's contest with what appeared to be a significant lower leg injury.

  • Rockets' Fred VanVleet: Top distributor in double-double

VanVleet had 18 points (5-13 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 4-4 FT), one rebound, 10 assists and one steal in 34 minutes during Friday's 123-107 victory over the Trail Blazers. VanVleet led all players in Friday's game in assists while connecting on a team-high-tying mark from three and posting the lone double-double to boost Houston to victory. VanVleet has led the Rockets offensively as of late, crossing the double-digit mark in assists in three of his last four contests, all of which have ended in double-double performances.

  • Rockets' Fred VanVleet: Double-double in Tuesday's win

VanVleet provided 21 points (8-15 FG, 5-9 3Pt), four rebounds, 10 assists and four steals over 38 minutes during Tuesday's 114-101 win over San Antonio. The veteran point guard produced his 17th double-double of the season while the four steals tied his season high. VanVleet has been exactly what the Rockets were looking for when they signed him to a big free-agent contract in the offseason, and he's taking his game to another level as the team tries to make the postseason for the first time since 2019-20. He's scored at least 20 points in five of the last six contests, averaging 19.0 points, 6.5 assists, 4.0 boards, 4.0 threes and 1.5 steals over that stretch.

  • Rockets' Fred VanVleet: Hands out 11 dimes against Phoenix

VanVleet posted 24 points (8-15 FG, 6-11 3Pt, 2-3 FT), five rebounds, 11 assists and one steal across 42 minutes during Saturday's 118-109 victory over the Suns. The veteran floor general played a significant role in Houston's win over the Suns, reaching double-digit assists for the first time since Jan. 29 and delivering his first double-double since a 24-point, 12-assist showing against the Knicks on Jan. 17. Even though Jalen Green and Jabari Smith are dubbed the future of the franchise alongside star big man Alperen Sengun, there's no question VanVleet adds stability and experience to the starting unit. The former Wichita State standout is averaging 16.7 points, 5.8 assists and 3.8 rebounds per game since the league resumed following the All-Star break.

  • Rockets' Fred VanVleet: Hits for 20 in Sunday's loss

VanVleet ended Sunday's 123-110 loss to the Thunder with 20 points (7-16 FG, 4-10 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds, three assists and one steal in 38 minutes. The veteran point guard missed five games in early February due to an adductor strain, but VanVleet appears to be healthy now. He's scored at least 20 points in back-to-back contests, and in three games since his return to the court, he's gone 12-for-30 (40.0 percent) from beyond the arc while nabbing five total steals.

  • Rockets' Fred VanVleet: Poor numbers in return

VanVleet (adductor) tallied seven points (2-8 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 1-2 FT), six assists, three rebounds and two steals across 30 minutes Thursday in the Rockets' 127-105 loss to the Pelicans. Making his return from a five-game absence due to a left adductor strain, VanVleet wasn't on a specific playing-time restriction but ended up seeing six fewer minutes than his season-long average due in large part to the blowout. He wasn't especially productive during his time on the court, but he still finished as Houston's leading assist man and should see his numbers improve as the adductor injury fades further in the rear-view mirror. According to Danielle Lerner of the Houston Chronicle, VanVleet already said before Thursday's game that he plans on playing in both ends of the back-to-back set, so he should be back on the court Friday versus the Suns.

  • Rockets' Fred VanVleet: Will play Thursday

VanVleet (groin) says he will play in Thursday's game against the Pelicans, Adam Spolane of Sports Radio 610 Houston reports. VanVleet has been sidelined since Feb. 4, but the All-Star break allowed his adductor injury to get ample rest. There's no word of any restrictions yet, but the Rockets are likely to monitor him closely in his first game back. With VanVleet returning, Amen Thompson is likely to see a decreased role.

  • Rockets' Fred VanVleet: Out through All-Star break

VanVleet (groin) will not play in Wednesday's game against Memphis and will be re-evaluated after the All-Star break, Adam Spolane of Sports Radio 610 Houston reports. VanVleet's next opportunity to take the court will come Feb. 22 against New Orleans. The 29-year-old is dealing with a left adductor strain, which has resulted in Amen Thompson and Aaron Holiday receiving increased usage. VanVleet had missed just two contests prior to his ongoing absence, and he's on track for his third consecutive campaign of at least 65 games played, with the All-Star break coming at an opportune time for him to heal.

  • Rockets' Fred VanVleet: Likely out next four contests

VanVleet (adductor) is expected to be out for another week before potentially making his return to action Feb. 14 in Memphis, Matt Thomas of SportsTalk 790 Houston reports. VanVleet has already been ruled out from Tuesday's contest against Indiana due to a left adductor strain and is expected to miss additional contests to follow. Amen Thompson and Jalen Green are likely to serve as the Rockets' primary creators out of the backcourt while VanVleet is sidelined, and Aaron Holiday and Cam Whitmore could also see some increased run off the bench in the short term.
